Group Interventions

It includes the following services:

Yoga

Yoga is a type of exercise in which pupils are taught how to move their bodies into various positions in order to become more fit or flexible, to improve your breathing, to relax and promote mindfulness. This intervention is available as a 1-1 or group sessions.

Group Drawing and Talking

This is run over 10 weeks focusing on different emotions each week, allowing pupils to gain a greater understanding of feelings, to support social interaction, expression, communication, and wellbeing.

Healthy Lifestyle Intervention

Health Living Intervention involves a range of techniques specifically designed benefit each individual child. This could include going on a walk, taking part in extra exercise or work to improve balance/ coordinator. All work is planned based on individual's interests and needs. This includes 1-1 activities and small groups. It promotes positive wellbeing and a healthy lifestyle. 

Within the Healthy Living Intervention, a Self- Esteem group is run across 6 weeks. This is designed to build confidence and a positive way of thinking. The children also work on different breathing strategies each week and discuss when they could be used. Below is a brief overview of the course structure.

Resilience Group

Resilience group is a 6-week programme where groups explore how to cope with anxieties. The structure of this course is built on each week to offer the resilience the young person will need to reach their full potential. Below is a brief overview of the course structure.

Week One – Getting to know each other

Week Two – Building resilience

Week Three– How emotions can physically affect our body

Week Four – How music/drawing can affect us

Week Five – Relaxation – hand massage

Week Six – Overview of session and sleep/relaxation

Over the six weeks along with the learning above, the children will be taught one or two small strategies each week to help them cope with resilience.

Market Fields Resilience Groups work alongside EWMHS who also offer this intervention. This allows us to work alongside multi agencies.

Self- Regulation Management Groups

This is a 6-8-week programme where groups explore how feelings can impact  their thoughts and behaviour. The group will look how they can use self-regulation techniques to support their emotional wellbeing and in turn how they access everyday life in a positive way.

Each week the group will learn two strategies to practise alongside looking at harder feelings such as anger, highlighting triggers, how this may feel in their body and coping skills/ strategies to break the cycle for a more positive wellbeing.

Mindfulness Boxes Resources in Classes: We facilitate a whole school approach to mental health and wellbeing support. In each class there is now a mindfulness box resource accessible to all pupils to support self-regulation and positive wellbeing.

Zones of Regulation: Zones of regulation are used throughout the school as a collaborative approach to pupil wellbeing and understanding of emotional regulation.

Zones of Regulation is a programme which has been implemented by the Speech and Language team, which we use in sessions to help pupils self-regulate independently.
