Careers and Employability
Intent: Our Careers Education Vision
At Market Field School, careers education is a key driver in preparing learners for adulthood. Our careers provision is:
- Person‑centred and aspirational
- Destination‑driven
- Fully embedded across the curriculum
- Aligned with preparation for adulthood outcomes
We recognise that every learner’s journey is unique and ensure that careers guidance is tailored to individual needs, abilities and aspirations.

Implementation: Careers Curriculum and Provision
Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
Students follow the Talentino curriculum, which is specifically designed for learners with SEND and supports:
- Exploration of careers and the world of work
- Employability and life skills development
- Understanding strengths, interests and aspirations
- Preparation for key transition points
Careers learning is delivered through planned, progressive lessons and reinforced across subjects to ensure relevance and accessibility.
Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2
Our youngest learners are introduced to the world of work through visits and trips (for example, to the Zoo, to the museum), through discussions about people who help us, through role-play experience and small world play, and through the wider primary skills-based curriculum.

Employer Engagement and Work Experience
Our careers programme extends beyond the classroom and is enhanced through:
- Encounters with employers and employees
- Workplace visits and community engagement
- A developing work experience programme offering real-life employment opportunities
These experiences support learners to:
- Understand how learning links to future employment
- Develop confidence in workplace settings
- Build employability and transferable skills
The school actively seeks partnerships with local employers and community organisations.
Compliance with the Gatsby Benchmarks
Our careers provision is mapped explicitly against the eight Gatsby Benchmarks, which are recognised as best practice for careers education.
We ensure:
- A stable and planned careers programme
- Access to up-to-date labour market information
- Personalised provision that meets individual needs
- Curriculum learning clearly linked to careers
- Encounters with employers, employees and workplaces
- Opportunities to explore further education, training and employment
- Access to personal guidance
The programme is evaluated termly using Compass+, supported by The Careers and Enterprise Company.
Local Labour Market Information (LMI)
Understanding the local labour market is a key element of our provision.
Students and families are supported to explore:
- Job roles and career pathways
- Entry routes and qualifications
- Skills required by employers
- Current and future employment demand
We use a range of resources, including employer engagement and trusted online platforms such as:

LMI information is reviewed regularly to ensure accuracy and relevance.

Here is what our careers programme means for your child:

Your child will explore a wide range of pathways, including:
- Employment
- Supported internships
- Further education or training

✅ My child will develop important life and work skills
Careers education at Market Field helps your child to develop:
- Communication and social skills
- Independence and self-confidence
- Teamwork and problem-solving
- An understanding of workplace routines and expectations
These skills support success both in employment and everyday life.
✅ My child will have opportunities beyond the classroom.
Where appropriate, your child will take part in:
- Employer encounters
- Workplace visits
- Work experience opportunities
These real-life experiences help learners to feel more confident about what happens after school or college.
✅ My child’s progress and next steps will be carefully planned.
We monitor and review your child’s progress regularly. We track outcomes after students leave us and use this information to continually improve our careers provision. Our strong destination outcomes show that students leave Market Field with clear plans and positive futures.

We value your role in your child’s journey. Parents and carers are encouraged to:
