Mercury

Mercury class is one of two KS3 and KS4 Autism bases.

Each child follows an individualised program tailored to the child’s specific needs, focusing on their EHCP outcomes and not limited to standard academic subjects. Our primary focus is to develop functional communication, emotional regulation, independence and social skills. These skills are taught through 1-1 sessions, group sessions, daily routines, out in the community and in the wider school community.

Our curriculum is delivered through a highly structured timetable, where we offer a range of activities that support our pupils learning. Mercury class provides an inclusive learning environment with reduced visual stimuli to suit the needs of our learners and one that promotes independence whilst providing communication opportunities.

We work throughout every day to develop the skills needed for each child to live as confident and independent life as possible for them and for them to be the best they can be.

In Mercury and Venus class we work from a bespoke curriculum personalised to each student. We focus on promoting independence and prioritise functional skills. Communication is at the forefront of all our learning and we work to give every child a voice. We work on our daily targets at school and in the community and swim, shop, cook and use the public bus weekly.
