A big warm welcome to Maple Class and to Market Field School.

Maple class includes children from Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. The curriculum in Maple is tailored to the needs of the children and is not limited to standard academic subjects. Every child is set targets which are specific to them and these are completed using specific activities on a one-to-one basis with an adult throughout the week. Children are also helped to generalise their skills through group work, whole class work and trips out.

In Maple we prioritise development of communication skills, life-skills and social skills as these are most important to our children. We also offer opportunities for sensory activities to help our children stay calm and focused. We use a range of different strategies and communication aids as suitable to the individual child.

Our days tend to be very structured and routine orientated. We use a range of visual strategies such as object to reference, photo cards, PECS, first/then boards and Makaton, to help our children to predict what might happen next thus helping them to feel secure.
